Twenty years of collecting, all in one place.
My name is Tom Watkins and I'm the creator of Black Square — a Land Rover Defender page on Instagram. Among the different content I share, my 1:18 scale Defender model collection has generated by far the most interest, with hundreds of thousands of views and tens of thousands of likes every month.
I wrote this guide as a solution for the hundreds of people who've reached out asking how they could build a Defender collection of their own. I've been collecting since 2009 and now have a near-complete collection across the brands I cover in this guide, worth several thousand pounds.
My hope is that this serves as your starting point — to discover the joy of building a collection, looking after it properly, and seeing the appreciation in value that comes from owning the right pieces and caring for them the right way.
